Workshops in Black and White Analog Film Photography

Next Intro workshops: March 11th (Part I) and March 18 (Part II) at 15:00

Getting Started with Analog Photography (Intro I/II) As an introduction to the darkroom, you will learn how to develop film. Bring a roll of exposed black and white film and we will develop it together. Then we'll make a contact sheet from the negatives, sort of analog thumbnails. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a feeling for what it is like to work in a darkroom, and have something to take home with you.

Printing from a Negative: Make the Magic (Intro II/II) Learning to enlarge a negative to a print is like a magic show, entrancing yet simple. Starting with your negatives from the first workshop, we will make prints in the darkroom. This is the part you see in movies, with weird equipment and a red light. After disscussing the techniques needed, we'll go into the darkroom and enlarge a photograph of yours from the first workshop. This time, you can bring home a print you've made yourself, by hand.

Intermediate Course on Darkroom Work: 5 consectuve Tuesdays starting February 24 This workshop, aimed at people who have taken the two intro workshops or have a little experience in analog photgoraphy on there own, digs deeper into the methods of analog photograhy. We will cover all kinds of things: Choice of film and developer, pushing and pulling film, choice of paper, fun printing techniques in the darkroom, a bit of zone system theory and a handful of other topics. Basically, everything you’ve always wanted to know about darkroom work. The course costs 150 € including all matieral costs (except for your film). It is a little more expenseive than the intro because the materials will be fancier. Space is limited to 5 people - please contact me if you are interested.
